WHO WE ARE
Welcome to GatherX: An inclusive, dynamic community for young adults in the Madison area. A place of connection, intersection, and ignition, we share a core set of values – establishing inclusive community, affecting positive change, and sharing our gifts with the world – but we’re more different than we are alike.
We are teachers, musicians, healthcare professionals, and recent grads who haven’t yet defined their path. We are Lutherans, Presbyterians, Catholics, and those who prefer not to label their spiritual journey or who do not resonate with the typical church experience. We are INDIVIDUALS representing different upbringings, political leanings, races, ethnicities, and sexual orientations. We are GatherX.
Our mission is to empower and connect our members at a point in their lives when change is inevitable – when they’re asked to join the brand new world of adulthood and expected to seamlessly navigate the surprising challenges that accompany it. We offer a point of stability,
a safe space, a place where a sense of community thrives and strangers become lifelong friends.
Our community launched in 2018 when Pres House Church leadership recognized a need to serve young adults who chose to remain in the Madison area after graduation or relocated to Madison from other areas of the country. Pres House, a campus ministry focused on serving current students, had limited resources to support students after graduation, but wanted to continue to serve the young adults who had become part of their community. This desire spurred the creation of Pres House’s Young Professionals group, which, through support from surrounding religious communities and a generous grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., grew into GatherX.
While GatherX was originally launched to focus on the age range of 23-30, we recognize that everyone yearns for connection and community. So, if anyone for any reason finds themselves in need of community, we welcome them to join us!
